Abbreviations and Acronyms
- Appellant
- The civil servant making the appeal.
- Appointing Officer
- A person with delegated authority to make personnel-related decisions. Normally this is a Head of Department (or equivalent) but sometimes will be the chief officer him/herself.
- Civil Service Entity
- The term used in the Public Service Management Law to collectively describe ministries, portfolios, the Audit Office and the Office of the Complaints Commissioner.
- Chief Officer
- The chief executive of a civil service entity. In the case of ministries it is the Permanent Secretary. In the case of Portfolios it is the Permanent Secretary equivalent. In the case of the Audit Office it is the Auditor General. In the case of the Office of the Complaints Commissioner it is the Complaints Commissioner.
